Velvet spent her first year at Rafina recovering from a stroke and the subsequent amputation of a front leg. Later as a strong, healthy 3-year old, she was bred to Manuel of Evergreen Grove CD, and produced four Rafina puppies that finished in 1993:
- CH Rafina Mustang Sally--finished from the puppy class with multiple Bests of Variety, and a First Award of Merit CCA in October of 1993.
- CH Rafina Katydid--finished in 2 weekends with 4 majors and a Best of Variety over Specials.
- CH Rafina Booker T--finished with 3 majors and Variety wins.
- CH Rafina Paddington--finished with 3 majors and a Variety win.
Velvet was a cherished member of our family. She lived out her 14 years here at Rafina in comfort as the matriarch of our flock. We have never been anything but extremely proud of her accomplishments with this solitary litter. Our only regret is that we didn't give her the opportunity to raise another.
